The UK government is aiming for 4 million homes to be powered by the sun through solar panels by the year 2020. This is part of a EU agreement for 15% of electricity to be generated by renewable sources like solar power. At the end of 2011 there were 230,000 solar panel projects in the Uk and by the end of February 2012 1,000 MW of electricity was being generated by solar panels.
